Qingyuan Smart Agriculture and Rural Research Institute is a research and development institution jointly built by the National Engineering Research Center for Information Technology in Agriculture (NERCITA), Qingyuan municipal bureau of agricultural and rural affairs, Qingyuan agricultural science and Technology Extension Service Center. NERCITA is the technical support unit of the Qingyuan smart agriculture and rural research institute. Academician Zhao Chunjiang, director of the NERCITA, is the chief expert, providing top-level design scheme and technical guidance for the development of agricultural informatization in Qingyuan City.

Qingyuan Smart Agriculture and Rural Research Institute focuses on modern information technology and big data technology, carries out the application of information equipment frontier technology in agriculture, new technology development, new product development and application promotion, improves the planting and breeding conditions and environment, improves the yield and quality of agricultural products, enhances the level of agricultural production, and promotes the development of Qingyuan smart agriculture and rural areas.  Establish the big data center of "digital agriculture" for agricultural and rural production, operation, management and sales in northern Guangdong. Provide agricultural informatization supervision scheme and agricultural big data platform for government departments, agricultural informatization management scheme and Agricultural Internet of things platform for agricultural entities such as agricultural enterprises and agricultural cooperatives, and provide high-quality agricultural products solutions for citizens.
