The Joint International Agricultural Conference (JIAC 2009.Beijing), including the Third Asian Conference on Precision Agriculture (3^rd ACPA), the Fifth International Symposium on Intelligent Information Technology in Agriculture (5^th ISIITA) and the Third IFIP International Conference on Computer and Computing Technologies in Agriculture (3^rd CCTA), will be held in Beijing of China from Oct. 14^th to 17^th, 2009. Based on the modern information technology and agricultural equipment technology, Precision Agriculture is intended not only to improve agricultural production ability and resource utilization rate, but also to establish a sustainable agricultural and food production system in a resource-saving and environment-friendly way. With the use of the technology in agronomic, intelligent information, intelligent equipment and technical economics, etc, scientific-management method of agricultural production and operation is established to realize the whole-process scientific-management of agricultural and food production. Precision agriculture has more then ten-year actual practice in some developed countries with the large-scale intensive management level of agricultural operation to a high degree. With the entrance to the new century, precision agriculture has been demonstrated and applied in some emerging economies and developing countries in Asia and has stimulated the innovation on relevant supportive technology and equipment.

In recent years, rapid progress has been made in intelligent information technology and computer technology application in agriculture. They are not only becoming the driving force for the new revolution of agricultural science and technology to improve agricultural and rural production ability, but also undertaking profound changes in agricultural production management method. It is the world trend to integrate informatization with agricultural modernization. The research of computer technology application in agriculture by the experts all over the world has played an increasingly important role in agricultural production and rural economy.

The JIAC2009.Beijing will serve as a platform for exchanging the current research and application of precision agriculture and information technology in agriculture as well as challenges and opportunities encountered in this field.
